We are honored that H.E. Indroyono Soesilo, Ambassador of Indonesia to the United States, will open our gathering with welcoming remarks.

This virtual event brings together scholars, students, and members of the public to celebrate the vitality of Indonesian studies and to help ensure its continued growth in the United States and beyond. Together we will share insights on the state of the field, hear from our community members about recent experiences in cross-national collaboration, and invite support for AIFIS programs and partnerships that make this work possible.

At AIFIS, we believe that the study of Indonesia matters – not only for scholars, but for all who care about cultural exchange, understanding, and collaboration between Indonesia and the United States. Every gift, large or small, helps us continue to:

  • Support early-career researchers and public programs on Indonesia through our grant programs,

  • Foster cross-national workshops and collaborations, and

  • Expand digital initiatives that make Indonesian scholarship more widely accessible.

As we prepare for Giving Tuesday, we invite you to reflect with us on the importance of sustaining Indonesian Studies in the U.S. and around the world. Together, we can ensure that the study of Indonesia continues to thrive for years to come.
